Microsoft Editor in Edge browser has troubled a lot of users in the past. We are among them too. Earlier this month, the Microsoft Edge 136 update pushed to the Stable channel broke the built-in Microsoft Editor but worry not it’s been fixed.

Microsoft Edge 136.0.3240.64 update fixes issues with built-in Editor

For the unintiated, Microsoft Editor stopped working, failing to offer spelling and grammar suggestions in the Edge 136. Microsoft has addressed issue with Microsoft Editor with the new version, 136.0.3240.64, which is now available for download for all.

While Microsoft keeps pushing users to try Edge browser, issues like the one with the built-in editor dents the reputation. That’s especially when it is second most popular desktop browser in the world. Anyway, the issue shouldn’t bother you now.

The update includes fixes for the bug that prevented Microsoft Editor from offering spelling suggestions. If you prefer not to send your data to Microsoft’s servers for processing, you can easily disable this feature. Simply go to Settings > Languages > Writing Assistance and turn off Enable grammar and spellcheck assistance.

The update also patches a Medium severity security vulnerability

Beyond the Editor fix, this update also addresses a Chromium security vulnerability (CVE-2025-4372) affecting WebAudio in Google Chrome.
