Meta’s been going all-in on AI this year, and now we’re seeing where it’s heading. Back in May, the company rolled out new AI tools for advertisers. Now, it’s planning something bigger. Meta wants AI to fully automate how ads are made and who they’re shown to by 2026.

Meta wants to take over the whole ad process with AI

Meta’s AI currently helps with ad targeting on Facebook and Instagram. But according to a new report by WSJ, it may soon handle everything—writing the ad, generating the visuals, picking the audience, and even deciding how the ad runs.

Per the resort, advertisers would just upload a product image, set a budget, and that’s it. Meta’s AI would do the rest. It fits with what Mark Zuckerberg recently said at the company’s annual shareholder meeting. He talked about a future where a business just tells Meta what they want, like more sales or new customers, and the AI handles everything after that.

Ads brought in more than 97% of the company’s revenue last year. That money fuels its AI investments, including data centers, custom chips, and training powerful models. So, the decision to take the help of Meta AI to streamline ads is a viable option.

Real-time changes and outside AI tools could be next

Meta’s also working on tools that let ads adjust based on where someone lives. If you’re in a snowy area, you might see a car ad showing it driving through snow. Someone in a city might see the same car cruising through busy streets.

There’s more. Meta is exploring ways to bring in other AI tools, like Midjourney or Dall-E, to help brands get creative with ad visuals. With Google recently showing off its Veo video AI, Meta clearly wants to stay in the lead.
