The chainsaw is revving again—only this time, Gears of War isn’t just staying on Xbox. Gears of War: Reloaded, a full remaster of the original game, officially drops on August 26, 2025, and it’s hitting more platforms than ever: Xbox Series X|S, PC, Steam, Cloud, and for the first time in franchise history—PlayStation 5.
The trailer shows off the same iconic third-person combat and cinematic drama that helped define the Xbox 360 era, now rebuilt with 4K textures, 60 frames per second in Campaign, and up to 120 FPS in Multiplayer. Cross-play and cross-progression are both baked in, so your progress moves with you, no matter where you play.

And before launch, you’ll get to test it all for yourself. A multiplayer beta kicks off on June 13 and runs for two weekends.
It’s open to Game Pass Ultimate members, Game Pass PC users, anyone who owns the digital edition of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, and fans who preorder Reloaded. It’s happening across all platforms, so PlayStation players can finally get a taste of COG warfare firsthand.

If you’re curious about how this remaster came together, Xbox is sharing more behind-the-scenes details, including an official podcast with the team at The Coalition. It’s been nearly two decades since Marcus Fenix first kicked down a door. This August, he will be kicking down a few new ones.
