If you run a nonprofit and rely on Google tools, big changes are coming your way — and most of them won’t cost a dime. Google is rolling out major upgrades to its Google for Nonprofits program, now available in over 100 countries.
Google is pushing AI-powered tools into the hands of more organizations doing social good, without the hefty price tag often tied to business tech.
Through its Workspace for Nonprofits tier, eligible groups get free access to Gmail, Meet, Calendar, and now, a packed lineup of AI features like Gemini, NotebookLM, and even Google’s new Vids tool for creating AI-generated videos.

Here’s a glimpse at what nonprofits are getting:
- Gemini Live for two-way voice chats
- NotebookLM with new summaries, mind maps, and Q&A tools
- Google Vids with Veo 2-powered video clips
- Canvas, quizzes, and audio overviews in Gemini
- Image generation with people built into Gemini
According to Google, nearly 90% of nonprofits already using AI reported productivity gains — but only 20% say half their team actually uses it. These upgrades aim to change that.
Nonprofits can now run free ads on Google Maps through the company’s Ad Grants program. That means when someone searches for services or help nearby, your organization might appear on the map, without spending a cent.
The program supports up to 2,000 users per org, with access to professional email and pooled cloud storage. This isn’t just a tech upgrade. It’s a meaningful step to help nonprofits modernize, stay visible, and reach people who need them most.
