Did you recently find issues with right-click jump lists on the Windows 10 taskbar? Well, you’re not alone. The KB5052077 update, released on February 25, 2025, broke the jump lists for many Windows 10 users, but it has been fixed now. Microsoft has also officially acknowledged the issue.

The reported issue caused apps pinned to the taskbar, like Excel or Word, to no longer show recent files when right-clicked. These jump lists are a productivity staple for many users, and their sudden disappearance left a lot of people confused.
Per Microsoft, a feature update rolled out through Controlled Feature Rollout (CFR) in Windows 10 version 22H2 broke jump lists. The update introduced a new account control experience in the Start menu. This interfered with jump list functionality for apps with recent file tracking.
Fortunately, Microsoft has quietly rolled out a fix for Windows 10’s broken jump lists. As noted by the outlet, the company halted the rollout on April 25, 2025, and issued a background fix. The company noted, “This issue was resolved by a service change that was rolled out on April 25, 2025.”
“If you are still facing this issue, please ensure that your device is connected to the internet to receive the automatic resolution that has been rolled out. After the next reboot, this issue should be resolved,” Microsoft further notes.
If you’re still not seeing your jump lists on Windows 10, make sure you reboot your PC while it’s online.
