Microsoft PC Manager app banner

Microsoft occasionally displays pop-ups or banner ads of its products and services on different locations of your Windows PC. So, it’s not a new thing. The company was recently spotted showing ads for Copilot + PCs on Windows 10 devices, urging them to switch to Windows 11. Guess what? Microsoft is at it again; this time, it is displaying an ad for Microsoft 365 in the PC Manager app.

Now, Microsoft’s PC Manager for Windows 11 displays Microsoft 365 ads

The Microsoft 365 ad inside the PC Manager reads, “Take Microsoft 365 on the go,” notes Windows Latest. In the ad description area, the company urges PC Manager users, “Download mobile apps to work seamlessly across your devices.

That’s not all; the “Discover more tips” anchor text placed right beneath takes you to a page titled “Windows 11 features and tips.” For us, the Microsoft 365 ad popped just once when we reinstalled the PC Manager app in our system.

Post that we have been seeing a small banner on top that reads, “Easily organize your apps and Windows.” The anchor text remains visible on the homepage of the app every time. What’s worse is that the banner, or whatever you like to call it, doesn’t have a close button. Microsoft has stuffed it into the UI of the homepage.

Previous instances

For the uninitiated, Microsoft still displays Microsoft 365 ads in the Settings app of Windows 11. Last year, a user even complained about frequently seeing Xbox Game Pass ads on their system.

That’s not all; earlier this year, Microsoft shamelessly started showing Xbox ads inside the Settings app as well. We are aware that ads can generate a lot of revenue, but displaying them at the cost of user convenience—Really, Microsoft?
