Microsoft appears to be working on a new Teams feature that will block screenshots during meetings. According to a recent Microsoft 365 roadmap entry, an upcoming feature called “Prevent Screen Capture” is in the works.
This feature will automatically black out the Microsoft Teams meeting window if someone tries to take a screenshot/screen capture it.
Microsoft notes, “To address the issue of unauthorized screen captures during meetings, the Prevent Screen Capture feature ensures that if a user attempts to take a screen capture, the meeting window will turn black, thereby protecting sensitive information.“
This screenshot block protection is coming to Microsoft Teams desktop apps (Windows and Mac) and mobile apps (iOS and Android) starting July 2025.
If someone joins from a device or platform that doesn’t support this feature? They’ll be automatically placed in audio-only mode. This means there won’t be any risk of screen sharing, screenshots, etc.
That said, Microsoft admits that photos taken with an external camera can still capture sensitive content. It’s unclear whether this feature will be on by default or something admins need to toggle. But one thing is sure that Microsoft wants Teams to be a safer space for confidential conversations.
