New Outlook Calendar getting offline support feature image

Microsoft has been making a few small but important changes to the new Outlook lately. However, many still find the app underwhelming, especially compared to the classic version. Well, Microsoft is looking to give users another reason to like the new Outlook; the company is finally planning to roll out offline Calendar support.

According to a new entry on the Microsoft 365 roadmap (ID 490059), New Outlook will soon offer support to let users create, edit, and delete calendar events even when they’re offline. The feature is listed as in development and is expected to begin rolling out in June 2025. The roadmap entry notes:

We are adding more offline functionality [for Calendar] in the new Outlook for Windows. You will now be able to create, edit, and delete events in your calendar when not connected to the internet.

The offline support for calendar makes New Outlook more usable for those who travel, work in areas with poor connectivity, or just expect their apps to function without relying on the cloud 24/7.

This builds on previous offline updates Microsoft began last year, starting with offline launch support and then email sync and attachment access. Other long-missing basics like PST support and offline functionality are also being rolled out bit by bit.
