If you’ve been following up on the news about the next-gen Xbox controllers, this piece is for you. According to Jez Corden from Windows Central, Team Xbox is actively working on prototypes of the next-gen Xbox controllers, including the much-anticipated Xbox Elite Controller Series 3.
Prototypes of next-gen Xbox controllers are in the works, suggests an insider
Corden shared this exclusive news on the Xbox Two podcast, saying that not even one or two; there are three prototypes of controllers in the works. If you have been looking forward to the Xbox Elite Controller Series 3, the good news is that it’s under development.
“We are getting some kind of Elite Series 3. I don’t know if it’ll be announced in June, though – I think maybe you see it next year, maybe it launches with the next-gen Xbox, we’ll see,” Corden was heard saying on the podcast.
Although Corden knew the codename of the project, he didn’t disclose anything about it. Corden further talked about a “mid-range” controller, codenamed Sebile. He also hinted that Team Xbox is working on a more basic controller. The company might launch it as the successor to the existing Xbox Series X|S controller.

Mid-range controllers’ rumored features
One notable feature highlighted by Corden, previously mentioned in the Sebile leak, is Direct-To-Cloud. As the name suggests, this feature enables the next-gen controller to “directly connect to your router as a Wi-Fi connection.” This will “eliminate the lag that comes from Bluetooth and then your TV interpreting that signal and sending it up.”
However, Corden noted that the entry-level controller might not include advanced features like this one. Corden further said:
This is something I share on a podcast, but it’s not necessarily something I’m willing to put into a report yet because I don’t have a huge amount of information on this stuff—so take it with a pinch of salt for now.
