If you’ve ever tried to remove a phone from Phone Link or the Managed Devices section in Windows 11, you know how frustrating it’s been. For the longest time, there just wasn’t a way to unpair a single device—unless you signed out completely from your Microsoft account. Well, that’s finally changing, according to Windows Latest.
You can now remove your phone from the Phone Link app or the Managed Devices settings
Microsoft has reportedly added a “Remove” button to both Phone Link and the Managed Devices settings in Windows 11 24H2. The option is now live in both Insider and Stable builds—and yes, it works just as expected.
If you go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Manage devices in Windows 11, you’ll see a new “Mobile devices” window. From there, you can choose which phone is integrated with File Explorer and other features. You need to scroll down a bit, and you’ll now find the option to remove the connected phone.
The same goes for the Windows 11’s Phone Link app itself. Open the app, click the gear icon > Devices, and next to your connected phone, hit “Remove.” That’s it—no more account sign-outs, no more redoing everything from scratch.
It’s a small addition, but for anyone juggling multiple devices, this is the quality-of-life fix we’ve needed. While the “Mobile devices” page doesn’t expose every Phone Link feature, it’s a good place to manage what matters most—what phone you’re actually using with your PC.
